non mopar tranny question.... sorry....
« on: January 22, 2009 - 02:01:09 PM »
hey all,

a good friend of mine has a `90 chevy van. He had the trans rebuild a few weeks ago.  ( th700r4 )  It takes forever to shift from first to second, ( that is the shifting itself... it`s not hanging in first too long... ) no problem from second to third, and no problem into overdrive.  The kickdown doesn`t work either.  The guy that did the rebuild says it`s kickdown adjustment, but when we put the trans back in the first time it didn`t shift into second at all due to some kind of ring he forgot to put back in.... :faint:  :screwy:
If it is adjustment what causes this problem,  is there some basic adjustment from where to start?  kickdown worked fine before the rebuild.

thanks

It sounds like the TV cable is too loose. Here is some good info on the adjustment process. (The EZ system is their system so don't pay attention to that part)  ;)
