Challenger Brake Line question
« on: January 20, 2009 - 09:17:40 AM »
I am putting together a '72 Challenger Rallye for a friend.  The car originally had drum brakes front and rear.  He took the parts needed from a '74 donor car to convert it to power front disc.  He bought a stainless steel brake line set for it as well.  The question I have is this, is this the correct proportioning valve setup for this car?   :dunno:

If so, the little brake line in the picture is not in the set of new brake lines the owner bought.  Did he get the wrong set?  Is this line available seperately?  What does everyone use for this line?

Thanks!

Jeff

Yeah, definately not the same as I have and mine is -73 chal. I assume that 72 and up had the same design? That looks more like a fully machined part as opposed to the cast valve I have.

I have another valve that the owner gave me but it looks identical to the larger one in the pictures above.  The big difference between the two is the valve above has a plug in one of the upper outlets and the other one does not.  Would it work to use that one since it has the correct number of inlets/outlets or are they drastically different?  :clueless:

Thanks for the help on this!

Thanks for the info guys!   Katfish, those sites were great!  I had seen the inlinetube website before but had trouble finding it again!  I do have the correct one for a '72.

Chryco, make me an offer.   I will talk to the owner tomorrow, but I am sure he said today he would sell it if he did not need it.

I will check it out tonight to make sure it is not plugged but I am pretty sure it isn't.

He says it should be worth $50 + shipping.

How does that sound?
