Keisler pilot bearing - difficult to install?

For those with Keisler 5-speeds, how difficult was the pilot bearing install?  Does the bearing need to be pressed in or should it just drop right in?

they are a friction fit so you need to tap them into place

Thanks CP.   How forceful can the tapping be before I break something?  I guess I'm concerned about damaging the thrust bearing.

I would use a socket or similar so the force is on the edge of the brg

We used to freeze the pilot bearings for a few hours.  The colder the better. This "contracts" the metal slightly allowing a little easier install.  Then they warm up, expand and fit just right......     :thumbsup:

I just tapped mine in. It wasn't real tight, just tight enough so you had to tap it in lightly with a hammer.

Thanks to all who responded. 

I did have to put the bearing on a lathe and cut it down some.  I put the bearing in the freezer overnight and heated the crank end with a heat gun on low prior to install.  Using a little 30wt oil as lubrication, I used a large socket and eventually got the bearing to seat after about 30 taps.
