Progress Update
« on: May 30, 2004 - 12:34:57 AM »
Hi all. Here's my latest pic. Progress has been very slow. At least the top is on. I've been waiting for some key parts for a while now. No one is coming through like they originally said....4 weeks turns into 6 months! Unfortunately, it doesn't look like this car will make it to Carlisle this year.

LB, I never made it to Mopar Madness...had to work instead. The biggest hang up on the Cuda is the brake booster. The Hemi's have a special brake booster. I have a guy making/reconditioning one and he's slower than death!

The good news is I've done a lot of work on my Satellite...rebuilt door hinges, new clutch, rebuilt tranny, new oil pan (finally stopped the leaks), new quarter window frame...lots of little things. It looks great and drives pretty good....LOTS of looks. Only problem is black soot at idle from the tailpipes. Can't seem to correct that....carbs are professionally restored, jetting is close (slightly lean if anything according to plugs), choke functions properly. Soot collects on the ground in patches at the tailpipe exits. Maybe it's blow by....engine has 68,000 miles.

Holy Sh!t!!  :o  :o  :o  :o  That car is amazing!! Popeye I am definitely very jelious!!  If not Carlisle . . . then maybe the NATS??  As for the soot problem, its not the carbs that will cause this problem!  Fire is where soot comes from and its usually because there it too much fire . . and in your case . . . yellow fire.  I believe a proper burn will take care of this problem so first thing I would do is double chech your gap.  Then do some research on your coil, wires and plugs.   Somewhere in that combination lies your problem.   ;)

I can't wait until my convertible starts to look like that!!  More pics please!! Love them '71's and the white billboards!!

Looks great!
If you are dealing with the same brake man I was waiting for I wish you lots of luck. when I did finally get it it was 5 months later and it didn't work, had to get a core booster and sent it to a local shop to rob parts from the core to fix his. :(

It worked out in the end but this guy shouldn't advertise as he can't do anything quickly.
