you need to make sure that the undercoating is paintable,if it is,and if it's old,I'd spray some adheson promoter before paint,best would be a etching primer,ig the undercoating is non-paintable,it will bleed thru and will make the paint look dirty,and you will be risking having it crack and split,usually if it's paintable, it won't rub off and won't scratch easy,and it's pure black, the non-paintable(I don't even know why they make it and stingy people use it) is kerosene and asphalt mix that looks brown,scratches easily ,can be washed off by pressure washer and can be wiped off with gasoline
