2000 Dodge Dakota electrical question

My buddies dakota has this funny thing going on with the left blinker. more often then not when I turn on the left blinker in the truck it blinks really fast like when a bulb is out. however sometimes it does blink normally and neither of the bulbs are out. Any ideas?

are you postive when it blinks fast that all the lights are working , I would look for an intermittent connection in the wire

Blinking fast is how it tells you a light is out. Check out each bulb and see if there might be corrosion in the socket. It's a reach, but my best guess for now.

Positive its not a bad bulb. The connections at the bulbs is fine. Where else could the problem be?

turn signal switch possibly you could test that at the plug at the bottom of the column

The same thing happened on my durango but the indicator on the dash was also very dim.  The wiring for the trailer hitch was pinched to the frame sorting out some times but not enough to blow a fuse?  I would check all the wiring carefully.

I would still replace the bulbs one by one ( or just replace them all...)  I had the same problem once and I too was 100% sure it wasn`t one of the bulbs.  It was one after all...
