In my home town I had the second fastest car in High School the 68 Runner, first was Roy's 71 340 Cuda, it was not stock he also was 20 and still in High School?. Well Mark a guy that we ran around with had been saving for 5 year's to buy a new car. He bought a new 1974 Road Runner.
This was when the HP# where dropping like a rock on paper and the 400 rated 260 at 4800 RPM, got to be slow right my was rated at 335 at 5200 RPM that is 75 more HP. Well Mark was telling us how fast the car was so we went out to play. We went out to Cherry Tree Lane where we had marked out a 1/4 mile. We both cut the same light so to speak. He took me by a 2 cars. We got talking and he had gave one of the Teck's at the dealer $100 under the table to set the car up right, in 74 that would be like $500 today but I would say it was money well spent. I then felled to thrid.
