M28/ 71 WSS
« on: September 26, 2008 - 08:51:27 PM »
My 71 Challenger is a factory M28 car with the wide hood chrome and the "special" fenders, but I was wondering if my car could have been the 71 equivalent of the WSS. I would like to know more about the M28 option and the options on the WSS cars.

My car has/had these options that I know of (no fender tag :'( )

woodgrain standard guages
body side mouldings
vinyl top
wheel well trim
possible previous fixed rear windows

If you mean the 1971 WSS Challengers, then no...

The WSS was a one year (1970) only deal, they did not offer an equivalent for 1971.

M28 is just the code for the huge front fender moldings, a 71 only option.

A91 was the WSS option PACKAGE. It included rim blow steering wheel, woodgrain non-rallye dash, vinyl top, belt & front valance moldings, pedal dress-up, F&R bumper guards, rallye wheels and S.E. style rear taillight panel. These cars were basically S.E.'s without the small rear window.

Does your car have ANY of these options? I'm guessing you have no BC sheet either, eh?

If it has a small rear window, then it probably has the A78 "Formal Roof" option. Coincindentally, A78 was the WSS option on 69 Darts!

If your car had fixed quarter windows, then it was a Deputy, code A93.

Body side moldings are V5_(insert color here)

Vinyl top is V1_

WOM's are M26

wood grain dash is correct, but either dash was optional,as my 70 wss has the rallye dash fitted.
