Removing door sticker

Two questions. First, does anybody known where the secret/hidden vin # is on a '70 'Cuda?  Secondly, I'm going to be taking my body in to be media blasted in a week or so.  What's the best way to remove the door sticker without damaging it?

There is a 3rd that law enforement knows of, but I'm not sure where it is (I guess that's the point of it, though).  I believe this came up before.  As for the door sticker, your best bet would probably be to make sure it is covered up well with several layers of tape or plastic, rather than try to take it off.  It will not go back on the same way because of the adhesive.  Mine went through blasting covered up and came out just fine.

I can't help you with the secret/hidden VIN # but I can help your door tag.  Take some good pictures of it and take it off.  You either have to protect it very well or take it.  Once you remove it will destroy itself .

Here's where you can get a new one and that's what the pictures are for.  You can send them to ECS and they will reproduce an exact copy.  Completely legal!

I believe there is a number stamped on the left side of the trunk lip.

Thanks, I'll check that. BTW where is the vin number on the radiator cowling/support. I can't seem to locate mine.

It should be right across the top, but a lot of times it gets filled in with paint.  If you run your fingers a cross you should feel the numbers, hopefully.

1 VIN on the dashpad
2 VIN on the dr door sticker
3 VIN on the fender tag
4 sequence number on top of the cowl in front of the driver
5 Sequence number on the radiator support in front of the driver. Either on top or just below where the top "wraps around"
6 Sequence number on the engine block
7 Sequence number on the transmission

Of course the VIN appears on build sheets too but none of my cars ever have them

There is another body VIN that very few know about.  After this thread came up I asked my friend in Law Enforcement where it is, but he asked me not to pass it on.  It's in a place that should last as long as the car does, and will not rot away with rust, or be replaced with new sheet metal.  They're sneaky bastards.

I know where that is on Camaros (for example) but I think manufactures didn't put that extra number on cars until 1980 or so.

I use clear shelf contact paper to cover up the door sticker. I stick it on big and cut it out carefully with an exacto knife. Paint right over it and peel the paper off when I'm done

Okay, Thanks for the photos.  I just located the radiator support number and cowling number.  As you said it was just under the rolled top.     Everthing matches!!
