Quarter window shoulder bolts
« on: February 11, 2009 - 07:56:13 PM »
I was in the process of adjusting the quarter windows on my 72 Cuda when I realized the bolts attaching the glide to the glass is wrong.

It should be a shoulder bolt with that goes through a spring and glide that allows the glass to pivot in and out as it goes down the rail.

I don't have these bolts, but I figure I can cobble something together. I just need some basic dimensions. I pressume these are similar to the ones used on the door glass (picture attached), only shorter.

Looks like the thread should be 1/4-20, and the shoulder diameter should be 3/8".

I need to know what the shoulder length should be and the thread length. I'm assuming about 1/2" on each.

If anyone has one of these around, please measure it for me so I can clone it.

Thanks!
-Jim

That measures pretty much the same as the door glass bolts, but with a smaller hex head.

I might actually have a couple of those, I just figured they needed to be shorter.

[edit]That IS a front glass bolt. Already have a few of those.

That's pretty much what I guessed.

These should work:

I'll have to drill and tap the hole on the glass bracket to 5/16"-18, and put a washer under the head.

I won't asked what you paid for those bolts, but I'm betting this will be much more economical.
