Another carb ?
« on: February 17, 2009 - 08:41:44 AM »
Ok, so where I'm working now, the shop owner has a 65 New Yorker, he wants me to tinker with and get running again. He says it's a 413-4bbl auto and has carb troubles. So without seeing it yet (needs towed in) What Carb did MA put on this beast (rochester? :clueless:)and would a rebuild kit be available? He says it still has original engine and trans, so my thought is to even keep the carb original if possible.
Guess I'll have to wait till it gets here sometime this week.

unless there is serious damage to the carb with corrosion you should be able to buy a kit for it & rebuild it yourself , My Guess would be a Carter AVS but i may be wrong

I believe the AVS debuted in 1968, so anything before that is probably an AFB. Not much difference though in rebuilding it.

Carter AFB useage
1962 318 poly, 361-B, 383-B, 413-RB
1963 361-B, 383-B, 413-RB
1964 273-A, 361-B, 383-B, 413-RB
1965 273-A, 383-B, 426W-RB
1966 273-A, 383-B, 440-RB
1967 273-A, 383-B, 440-RB

Carter AVS useage
1968 340-A, 383-B, 440-RB
1969 340-A, 383-B, 440-RB
1969 340-A, 383-B, 440-RB
1970 340-A, 383-B, 440-RB
1971 383-B, 440-RB
