L.A. vs. Hamtramck Tags

I bet Barry knows..........

When, and which cars from the Los Angeles plant had the smaller font on the fender tag? I have seen many cars with the same font as the other plants and just as many with the "small" font.

Was there a specific time when the font changed? Did the stamping equipment come from another vendor? Did the original equipment get damaged/replaced?

Thanks

LA had more than one tag machine. Both fonts were used from 1969-71. It has nothing to do with type of car or anything like that. Both fonts were in use daily.

Hi Barry,  I just went onto the LA registration form and it is asking for a pencil rubbing of the fender tags. I don`t have the car at my home yet,not until early May, it is still at the fellows shop that I bought it from. I have a sheet he gave me with the codes on it and I can contact him to make sure it has them all, would that be enough? :clueless:    Also the car does not have the original tranny, but it is a 727 he had rebuilt and installed. I could get him to get the serial # off of it, would that also be enough?        KEN     northern :canada:

Yep, that would be enough. If I have any questions about it I can ask them after I receive your form in the mail.

If you can get the VIN from the tranmission that would be great too.
