Not a kill but Still Funny
« on: September 13, 2008 - 09:53:35 PM »
I was out enjoying a nice weekend cruise in my Barracuda, windows down, a nice tune coming from the exhaust and the occasional thumbs up and waves from another driver or two. The light ahead of me turns red, I come to a slow stop and I'm minding my own business when a ricer pulls up beside me to my passenger side. Through the corner of my eye I can see him giving me the once over followed by the revving engine and that awful coffee can sound which my wife says sounds like mated RC and lawn mower engines. Okay, I'll bite and I look over at the kid. He looks at me with a big smile on his face and says, and I quote, " I don't stand a chance do I ". I nodded in agreement, but he still takes off so as to probably tell his buddies he bested a Mopar today. I was not in the racing mood, I gave that up in my 20's.  Something came over me. Must have been that tin can exhaust sound, and even though he was already six car lenghts ahead I floored it, the moderately modified 340 came to life, and I quickly nosed ahead of him in short fashion, then backed out of the gas after flashing a smile to his bewildered face. Not a kill mind you, just reminding him about what he said at the light.

I like your car, and I like your story. A kill is a kill, and that ricer had it coming. He won't try it again, I would bet. I have actually had people in "rolling stereos" roll up their windows so they could hear their thumping bass over my idling car. I often don't even know they are there until they take off, and leave me by a car length or so. I have stopped counting the ricers with coffee cans and boomboxes, as there are so many of them. The college kid in the BMW 740- now that was fun.

The correct teminology for those 5" outlet mufflers that sound so annoying is "Fartcan".....  :smilielol:

:clapping:  Yep, a kill is a kill even when you had second thoughts and a 6 car length disadvantage.  Cooked rice is cooked rice!  Good job, SGA.   :2thumbs:

Who am I to argue. If you guys say it is a kill, then I'll take it.  I especially like the terminology. Cooked rice, smoked rice, fartcan and rolling stereo, all good ones. There ought to be a book about this stuff, " The Mopar owners Guide to Kills and Opponent Lingo ". I've often told my wife that some of those cars have more power in their stereo than in their motor.
The only other time that I even tried to challenge another car was a late model Mustang. Same old story, we meet at an intersection, he revs his car, but I'm thick headed not intending to race. He takes off at green and after he is comfortably ahead that same sensation comes over me. It was surprisingly easy to catch up to him and pull ahead and now we find ourselves at another stop light. This time I decided to go for it when the light turns and I give him a signal to go for it. I've heard you guys talk about Mustang kills, so they must be eager I thought to pit their cars against most comers. He turns right, end of story. Please forgive the comparrison, but it was like a tease back in high school. You're all revved up and no place to go.

Hey at least he knew enough to respect the Mopar,
if I came up to a Chally with my 95 sonoma and the driver game me the eye,

I would totally go for it (just to see how much I would lose by)
