gas tank vent question

Hey guys new to the site..but i have a 71 cuda 440 car im putting back on the street,it had a fuel cell in it...i got the gas tank,straps,sending unit,and mat..but i ran into a snag whats this vent or what ever that goes in the trunk,do i need this?its not there..im kinda lost on this..thx :feedback:

I would recommend putting one in, mine didn't have it when i bought it and car always smelled like gasoline until i installed it

If you don't have a vented gas cap, then you'll need this vent tube installed.

Ok so if i can get a gas cap that has a vent that fits mine then i dont need it..cool..i was woundering i took it out like 15 years ago when i was in high school and i didnt save it..so can you still find them? just in case i cant find a cap to fit?

are locking gas caps vented? how can you tell....

The vent on the gas cap only lets air in.  You need a vent to let air out also.

And yes most after market locking caps are vented.

how many vent nipples on you tank,
 if only one just run a tube higher then the tank up into the frame
