are all repop flip gas caps the same quality?
« on: February 19, 2009 - 10:40:36 PM »
Hi all!
I'm wanting to get a flip gas cap for my 70 Challenger. Are they all the same quality and fit? Would you just find the cheapest price and go for it?

The cheapest I found last year was from PG Classic, and I'm perfectly happy with it.  We had to grind off the edges of the mounting tabs to fit, but that was because of the Goodmark fenders we put on.  From what I've seen and read,  all of the repros are pretty much the same, and this one looked no different from my original.

I received three new caps from Year One, all defective. All three did not lie flat- the hole for the pivot pin was not drilled straight thru the black base, causing the cap to sit very noticeably cocked when on the car. Plus, the caps had serious buff/burnish marks- I have no idea how they got thru QC. The guy at Year One was even nice enough to check the caps they had in stock after I explained the problem to him. He could not find a good cap in his stock, so they refunded my $. Ended up getting a good one through RT Specialties.
