Anyone have the factory fastener size manual?
« on: August 06, 2013 - 03:35:58 PM »
I'm needing to order basically new fasteners and hardware for everything in my 71 Challenger RT.  Was hoping someone maybe has the manual so I could borrow it for a couple days to figure out everything I need to order.  I would go with kits for everything, but I don't really want to pay a couple hundred for something like that. Would be willing to pay a deposit or fee for use of the book, or would also pay to have you look up sizes for me.

Thanks yall!

Are the original fasteners too far gone to re use?  My car was very rusty.  Some of the fasteners weren't useable but most were.  They can be replated to look new again.

The parts and associated fasteners are either totally gone, or they are too rusty. I figure its down to less than a roller right now so I may as well just get all new for everything.

Trust me!

A couple of days will be you wanting to use it for a couple of months.

You really need to get to the hardware catalog as well from AMK.
Why not call AMK  and discuss what kits you need? They carry most of them.
Ask for a printed catalog as well on your order.

Before throwing all of your fasteners in the trash, buy a gallon of EvapoRust.  Put some of the fasteners in there and see how they come out.  They might surprise you. Even if you still decided to buy all new fasteners, the EvapoRust will come in handy for many other parts.

I would just buy the correct kits for your application....I don't see how you're going to save money trying to research each bolt yourself. :dunno: This manual you speak of won't help you find the correct fasteners, most are not even available with the correct markings and such. :2cents: It will tell you what was there from the factory, but doesn't tell you where to buy them. The people who have put the kits together, for the most part, have done the research for you.
I've taught you everything you know.....but I haven't taught you everything I know !
