22" radiator and shroud fit
« on: February 23, 2009 - 07:20:54 PM »
I have my original 22" 2998954 radiator, and I found a like new 2998328 shroud, but I have 2 questions. first is it common to have to grind a spot out on the shroud so it will clear the bottom radiator hose? it lacks about 1/2 from fitting.  and why is the shroud offset to one side? I don't have the engine in the car yet but it looks like the radiator is centered so is the engine not dead center in the car? acording to the part numbers I'm set but something isn't looking right.

I have the same radiator and shroud as you. You have a 4speed?    My car as you know is a 440-6 4 speed. Mine fits perfect.  your brackets bolt on for the shroud. The top of my shroud is even with the top seal line of the top tank

Yes mine is a 4 speed too, after messing with it I see my fit problem, you can't push the hose on too far on or it holds things up.

So it is supposed to be offset huh? I thought something was wacky when the fan wasn't centered on the radiator shroud but I guees that's the way it is. without the engine in the car to fit things up they don't make sense sometimes.

The engine is moved over to the passenger side from the factory for weight distribution.  Make sure you have the correct size fan. no bigger than 18.5
