im looking at changing cams in my 383 ,what do you guys suggest i go for?,its a street car not a drag strip machine ,but i would like it to perform much better than it does,because at the moment it cant hardly get a wheel spinning!,the motor i rebuilt about 2 years ago but reused the old cam numbering the lifters as i dissasembled it ,im unsure what its specs are,but it has a smooth idle ,the engine is in my 70 challenger with 727 auto and 3.23 gears,the engine is the original 383 040 bore ,906 heads steel crank arp rod bolts kb 400 pistons with 6cc dome ,6 pak carbs ,headers twin 2.5in exhaust.
at the moment it has the stock converter,but im looking at putting in a 2500 stall when i do the cam,i also have a performer manifold and 650 carb i was going to try,thinking the 6pak was to big.has any one got a similar combo to mine with a better cam that performs?
