My parents are moving to Michigan
« on: March 07, 2009 - 10:13:26 PM »
I guess they want to die there.  Went and seen them today. Mom might have a yr left and dads on borrowed time now. And they only get 1k a month income now.

Dad says, I dont have to worry about a job and money, I get 250 bucks a week SSI. :smilielol:  I said yeah both of you are just about 90% crippled. And you just put your coat on in 70 degree weather. Mom almost died twice this year with neumonia. You ever feel frozen ground at 80 yrs old when you slip and bust yer but? They live in a housing nursing place now. The car wont make it 300 miles. Talked for 2 hrs about it. I gave up....by :banghead:

Howard city area,North of Grand Rapids some.  Wait till he finds out how much it is just to make the move. He spends 375 a month now for rent, elect, water, gas, and cable.  He thinks Michigan will be cheaper.   He only has 10% of his heart left now.  He cant walk 100' and mom cant walk 20'.

Wow Al, Sounds like they should hang tight where they are. :dunno:
Maybe they will get sticker shock and stay in Bama.  I hope it works out for them and you.

Sounds like they have made up their minds Al.  I guess they feel like they know what is best for them.  I hope everything works out for them, and for you.  As long as they know they have a place in Cullman if they want it, they will be fine....

Al, here is what they may look like after the move, the cold in Michigan alters DNA, you may want to warn them?

Hi Alan,
Hope you can convince your parents to stay. Moving can be very costly, there's the packing/unpacking, deposits for all new utilities, new address & phone numbers to fool with. And then finding all new doctors for all that ails them. Maybe they haven't thought of all the messy details that you can enlighten them on and convince them to stay!! Most older folks hate change!! I know I do!! :eek4:
