A buddy of mine is building a street rod and needed to pick up some parts over at Chassis Engineering in West Branch Iowa. So we made the road trip knowing that this is the home of Roy Lewis' Bonneville streamliner. This car was an engineering masterpiece. It was powered by a single Cummins diesel much like the one in Dodge trucks but tricked out and went over 300 MPH. Now he has stretched it nearly 4 feet and it will be powered by 2 Cummins Diesels and he is hoping to set a new record with it in August. Here are a couple of pictures. The engines on the rack are all 392 Hemis. I counted 14 of them when I was there today.
