Goodmark R/T hood and front valance
« on: March 27, 2009 - 10:24:53 PM »
Front valance fit ok, easy to correct mismatch with movement of lower front fenders.  Better not bump into anything bigger than a gerbil cause the valance would crumple:)

The R/T hood length was good, curve up at the rear by the windshield matched my 1974 original fenders.  The biggest issue is the arc front to back of left vs right sides;  they are not the same, close but not the  same.  So hood needs to be "bent" along drivers side edge with the center of that length higher.  Will let you know if bigger issues arise.
On the bright side hood was stiff enough to not feel like it was going to buckle against the spring force of AMD hood hinges.
Will have a report in next 1-2 weeks on RH Goodmark rear quarter, LH AMD rear quarter, and AMD roof skin.

I have been waiting for feedback on the Goodmark R/T hood. Do you have pics of what you are talking about? I dont quite get what arc you are talking about. Thanks for the feedback though. Its the first usable feedback I have gotten since I asked Goody about the price of one 3 years ago lol.

Our aftermarket hood fit great.  Here is a picture of the R/T hood on my Dad's challenger.  We got the hood from Sherman before I started Ebody Products.

Sorry I'm not being clear.   The left and right edges of the hood that should follow the same contour of the fenders from the leading edge of the hood to the aft end of the hood back by the windshield.
The fenders have a slight crown at mid-length, so the leading edge by the headlights is lower and the 'back' is lower just before the pronounced upswing over the wipers.  The hood, on the right side is close enough to shim out the difference with the fender shims (on center three fender bolt locations).  The hood on the left side has the crown, but it is not enough, at least not equal to the passenger side.  We pulled ALL the shims out of both front fenders and will start from scratch.   Will let you know how it turns out.   I don't have photos of the actual hood, but here's a couple reference pics.

Oh ok I get what you are talking about now. When I pulled my fenders there were no shims at all on the topside but there were some of the body shims on the lower edge to make the fender line up with the doors. What do the fender shims look like?

My 74 has round washers, maybe 1 inch OD, just like your lower edge shims but thinner, with thickness from 1/16 to about 3/16 inch thick.  My center three fender bolts were studs that held the shims in place while you installed the fender.   We are changing out the studs to bolts because it took a fair amount of prying to lift the fender up over the studs, enough force to bend the fender lip "up" where it attaches to the fenderwell.
I have the lower fender/door shims too.  I'll post line of sight pics next week, should be able to get them before the shop messes with the hood so you can see the problem.  Good questions, thanks for asking.

My fenders were secured by bolts that secured to the little captured nuts that snap on the inner fender. No studs at all. Wonder if it was a change that was made later on? Did your fenders have the factory seam sealer on them?

Yes, they are the original fenders, and I don't think they had ever been removed.  They are in fairly good shape considering.
My wife and I chipped off all the seam sealer.  She had a tough time with it, and a worse time with some of the undercoat... it is good stuff meant to stay there.

Daniel. your hood that you bought from sherman is goodmark, sherman and goodmark share and are partners in some products. they use the same stamper on the fenders and rallye hoods, basically it is a goodmark hood with shermans tag on it.

Dave,

I am amazed at how many people don't know that Sherman and Goodmark have alot of the same products.  The R/T hood actually arrived in a Goodmark Box (Imagine That!).
