Polishing Glass Scratches....again....
« on: February 17, 2009 - 10:20:03 PM »
Has anyone tried Eastwoods "Deep Scratch" kit (or anything else) to remove scratches from side glass? I have a 74 Challenger with scratches from years of use - but there's definitely not enough money in the budget for replacement windows....except for the drivers which I need - in clear - and can't find...Any advice, tricks, experience at all would help -
Thanks. :D

Well.....DON'T!!!
I purchased the kit, with extra's as I heard one of each grit isn't enough and now what I have are scartches windows with sanding and frost marks on them!!!! The GD grits aren't enough to remove scratches, but are enough to mark the glass. The polishing compound on the other had is not good enough to polish out the frosting marks left by the sanding....
Now I'm just pissed.

I bought the same Eastwood kit and did get the frosting marks out of my windshield but I would say I have tied up at least 4 hours of my time polishing the glass over and over again.

O man that is a bummer  :swear:  I am in the same boat as I have original tinted glass that has scratches from various sources but am not in the green enough to pop for a set of new glass. Sorry it did not work out for you, maybe just polish the piss out of it like 71340 said he had to do. Hope you get the frost off the windows.
