I don't weld (yet??) and am about to replace the front floor pans and the trunk.
In areas that won't ever be seen, is an adhesive a reasonable thing to use?
Any suggestions on manufacturer?

I am simply trying to get my car fit to drive and looking OK.

I think that depends on how much of a structural element the panels you're replacing constitute.  If you're doing both front and rear pans, I'd weld it, even though the seats are supported by the underlying subframe.  But if you're just doing a footwell or something, go for it.  I used panel-bonding adhesive to install a four-speed hump in my car and it came out fine.  Mopar Muscle had an article a few years ago where they installed a front floor pan using panel bonding adhesive.  PM me with your address or a fax number and I'll send you a copy.

Kevin Tetz's Paintucation Body Panel Replacement DVD has a chapter on using adhesives for quarter panel repair. It was pretty interesting, he shows how to do it, and most importantly how to not have a seam show up later. The advantages are 1) no worries of sheet metal warpage, and 2) no worries about the metal around the weld rusting.

As mentioned above, the seam is visible on the inside of the car unless its covered with bondo or something else. But the same can also be said of any flanged patch panel unless the installer cuts the flange off and butt welds the patch.

That having been said, I prefer to butt weld patches, leaving no evidence a patch was made.

i read an excellent article recently about gluing, and welding through the glue. this is the technique im gonna use on my cuda roof.

this is wayyyy off mopar topic, but the fundamentals are the same.
although it doesnt address the panel issues, the ideaoligy would also be the same.

There is no way I would glue any panels on our e bodies, that includes the hump for the A833 or a 5/6 speed.
The modern cars that glue their panels are designed differently with structual integrity designed in. Our uni bodies should be welded unless a structual engineer can do the maths and work out how to over come the differences.   :working:
If the car is a trailer queen it probably wouldn't matter but if that vehicle was to be put on the road......     :faint:
