Battery Tray color

1972 Dodge Challenger. Was the battery tray the same color as body color?

From what I have heard around here it could be either body color or black.
1971 Challenger (OO==== ====OO) getting close!

Body color originally, no exceptions.

If you have a black one in a car that is not black, it has been replaced at some point. Early replacements were a redish primer, sometime around 1980 the primer switched to black.

Yup, I bought one from the dealer in the early eighties and it is semi gloss black.  Some day I will even get to put it back in the car!
