I'm Rollerizing my 340...A few Dumb Questions Need Answers First...HELP!

Hi There....  I want to fully rollerize my 340 w.X-Heads...Just scored some comp cam roller rockers(1.6's) and a set of roller lifters...I know I need new pushrods for the change in length,but do I also need a new cam since this one is for normal rockers and lifters?  Just a rookie mopar guy looking for some help...  Thanks In Advance!  Jeff in BC.

I don't know, but from what I've read on Roller Small blocks, you need to do some oiling mods to the block in order to run a roller cam, especially a hydraulic one.. I know I've seen the mods done in MM magazine to an early small block...

You'll need to block the oil passages in the lifter galley...not for the faint of heart!

I'm running a solid roller cam in my 340 stroker with no mods at all-plenty of oil pressure. I'm running Herbert lifters ($270 for the set) but I had problems running a hydraulic roller though(no oil pressure). Hughes now makes hydraulic roller lifters that solve the oil pressure problem and I believe they're $350 a set. I would have gone this route if they had been available when I did my motor. Pushrods-you'll have to get 'em custom made(I did). Your rocker arms MIGHT be fine-all depends on spring pressure. I'm running Crane Gold 1.6's without issue so far. Is your motor apart? Going roller now is easier than it was a few years ago and the performance and peace of mind is nice....

Thanks for the input guys....  I had a feeling I was biting off more than I can chew... No sweat as the 340 produces tons of power without getting crazy anyway... It would just slow down my restoration at this point anyway!  Cheers and Thanks Again...  Jeff.
