74 Challenger

I'm still thinking I should sell off my Challenger before this economy makes it completely worthless.  So,  It is a 74, complete,  360 auto,  Ran OK before I started taking the body apart, 70 ralleye dash, open gears in the rear.  Interior is in good shape, original back seat is good, no tears or wear through, headliner needs replaced, front seats are good, foam is in good shape, I have replacement covers.  Nice console, Dash has a couple typical cracks, I'd replace it.  AM radio.  Will need driver floor pan and trunk replaced.  Body has some rust, rear quarters, have replacement patch panels for both sides.  Bottom of doors, have 2 rust free doors, one needs a few small dents removed.  Firewall will need some patching, hood hinge area has typical rust, have patch panels for them.  Hood is in good shape, trunk lid is in good shape, I also have a flat hood, extra trunk lid.  Front fenders have some rust on lower parts by doors, patch panels are out there to fix.  Has original ralleye wheels.  Grill is in good shape, has the wing that contours to the trunk rather than on stands.  I have been collecting replacement parts, upgrade parts for a while that I will try and list if it makes any difference.

What I'm trying to figure out is whether it is worth more as a whole ( yet taken apart ) or parted out ( not my first choice ).

I would say as a whole and not part it out.  Are you able to make it more moveable?  Like set the engine and trans back on the mounts, put the fenders and doors back on for trailer travel?  74 e bodies are the hardest ones to find. A little time back into the car will net you a bigger return and easier to load and deal with.

Luckily, I never took the motor and trans out.  With a little work, I bet I could start and get it to move under it's own.  Doors & fenders & trunk lid & hood could all go back on pretty easily, grill & other stuff, not so much.

once you start putting the fenders and such back on, you might start to think, "Hmmm....maybe I will keep it....  "

Like Al said, the '74 were the least produced, especially with the Rallye option...

It's actually not a ralleye, it has all the options, but was ordered seperately w/o the stripes for insurance purposes.  As far as I've looked it's a numbers car.

I really wanted a Cuda when I bought this, but couldn't find one worth what they were asking.  I figure it's for the best, maybe someone will get it who has the time & resources to fix it right.

Being able to move under its own power will make a large difference in a shipping quote, which will attract more buyers.

I'd try bolting it back together to make it "portable" enough to transport. At that point, I'd say $4000 to $8000 is what most 72-74 E bodies seem to be listing at in comparable condition.

While 74s are the lowest production numbers, they also tend to demand the lowest prices as well.

I just saw a '71 with a 440 with no rust, new paint and a new interior go for 10K on Ebay with no reserve. 

I'd say 4 to 6K.
