Brake pedal is not returning
« on: March 26, 2009 - 10:46:07 PM »
Hello fellas, After installing the reman master cyl and power booster, the pedal is not returning to the upper position, the brakes were bleed and the car stops fine but I have to return the pedal by using my foot other wise the car would stay stopped/parked with the brakes applied.

Here's  what I think might be happening is:
1) Pivot screw to tight
2) bad spring on the master cyl
3) Bad/Wrong power booster
4) Missing part???
5) Vaccum???

Any Ideas??

Thanks as usual for all your comments and support

1 - possibly
2 - no spring in there
3 - possibly
4 - some thing could be missing
5 - vacuum should have no effect

PROBLEM SOLVED... # 1 was the winner.. bolt was too tight also rear pass side line was little loose at the cyl. with some air entering to the rear system...  :woo: she's ready (only a/c hoses and system charge pending).

post with pictures coming soon!

Yes, I think so.  After reviewing your Number selection of possible issues, I realized you were referring to his number of Possible issues. Sorry for being absent minded. Thanks. I will try them all.
BUT, you said vacuum will have no effect on number #5 possible issues.? doesn't the booster add vacuum ? :clueless:

Vacuum would have no effect on the pedal not going to the top in his case , in your case the pedal is being pulled down by vacuum different situation
