Horn Orientation
« on: April 26, 2009 - 12:03:18 AM »
A suspected rattle on the front passenger side caused a look at the horns as they are set on a sheetmetal L- bracket that seems pretty flexible. There are small rings in both casings and it might work to tie wire between them and add some support.

Then the thought of which way they are meant to sit/point came up. Any ideas :dunno:

 That make perfect sense, thanks.

The rattle is more like a "thumping" sound and only occurs on the washboard sections of our dirt road. I just rebuilt the front end so that shouldn't be the source. I'll give the ty-wire a try and see what happens.

Is your strut rod bolts tight?  bumper brackets or anything lese like that?  Horns dont thump and the brackets are sturdy

I'll check those items along with anything else I can think of.

The heater box is another suspect. :clueless:

The heater box is another suspect. :clueless:

Have someone ride with you and have them put their head under the dash for that, when the thumping occurs, have them steady the heater box assembly and see if the sound goes away.

:iagree: I agree with Moparal, horns are too small to really thump.  Make sure all the front end work you did is tight.

Or you can just turn up the radio when you hear the thumping sound....  :roflsmiley:
