1970 Challenger fender question
« on: March 30, 2009 - 10:23:20 PM »
There have been threads going on the correct 70 Challenger fenders. Well I found an interesting car this weekend. These were on a 70 Challenger that has 69,000 original miles and according to the owner (original owner) neither fender has ever been replaced. So can anyone explain the difference in the fenders other than one was replaced?  :clueless:

Driver's side fender is the 1971 style.

That's what I thought, but the only swears that the car has never had any sheet metal replaced.

Got any other pictures of the fender bolts? The one next to the hood bumper does not have nearly enough paint on it, so it may be from another location or it was removed & replaced or ????

If I remember right, he bought it in '71? If so, whatever happened may have taken place while it was still at the dealership?

I don't have any more that show those bolts real well. I never thought about the possibility that it could have been replaced by the dealer before he bought it, good point.

Also this car will be at the ohlone car show in June so if there are any specific shots of this car for reference let me know before June 7th and I can take them.

Under-skin detail photos of the hood itself would be great since the 1970 Challenger shaker hood cars in original condition are quite scarce.

Ask him if he has checked inside the bucket seat backs for broadcast sheets for other cars too, if they have not been searched yet he may have a sheet or two for other folks cars.

Here are a couple. I do have them in high resolution as well (3600 pixels), but they have to be emailed due to the file size. I will get more when i see the car next. I asked about the broadcast sheet and he has had other people ask about it and he has not searched for it yet. He does have the original window sticker for the car.

The shot I have of it isn't very clear. I will definitely get a shot of it for you though.

Thanks!

I would love to know what it says, it just seems like an odd spot for something to be taped like that.

Check out this fender on my 71 Challenger Vert. I was a service part bought in the early 80's (I think). it's got 70-71 marker lights but the bumper location is 72-74 and no hole for the lanyard. The fender has never seen the road. It bugs me so much that the bumper locations is off.
