Idler arm differnces
« on: May 15, 2009 - 08:19:40 PM »
When I bought my front end parts quite a while ago, I bought a whole front end kit. Somehow, I ended up with 2 idler arms.

Which one is the right looking OEM one?
Is the curved one for something else besides an E body?

OK thanks, thats at least right for 73 and 74 most likely. But that top one really is unusual. I don't recall those on E bodies. I'm wondering if anyone has that on theirs originally.

I thought 70-74 E-body idlers were all the same???

It could just be a casting difference from a different vendor. Very common.

I've got a bunch of 73-76 A-body idlers and they all look different. One is square looking like that top one. Geometry wise the ones I have are all the same.

Don't they have a PN cast into them?

Those are aftermarket. So the wouldn't have factory casting numbers.

I wouldnt think the side to side bend would make a difference except for the surrounding components. if the length is the same, than either would work

But they usually have a vendor PN that you could look up.
