hard reverse 2-3 upshift

I installed TF1 kit recently and everything works ok but one problem remained (it's just more evident now than before transgo installation). Putting car into D is smooth but reverse is very hard/hars, so is upshift to 3rd. Moreover the upshift to 3rd is apporx 1 second delayed but the revs stay at the same level. Just pushing the lever ... bang after 1 second and it's in 3rd. Sometimes it shifts to 3rd smoothly (rarely). 
The fluid level is ok, TV cable adjusted properly, linkage adjusted properly. When assemblying, I set both bands at 72 in-lbs and then 2 1/2 turns back.
Should I play with KD band adjustment or it is not related with?

Reverse and third gear uses same clutches at the front drum. Problem might be there. Is the oil still clear red?

First off I would set the intermediate band to 1 1 /2 turns. Did you try adjusting your kickdown a little weaker and see what happens?

Put new oil, has nearly 100 miles and is still clear red. The old oil had approx 1000 miles and was brownish red. Intermediate = kickdown right? I can set it to 1 1/2 turn unscrewed from 72 in-lbs - I just didn't know I can do that with stock 383 and 1800 stall.
Didnt tryto adjust it tighter/softer but will make some adjustment and check the effect.
