Thinking about power mirrors for the Cuda
« on: April 10, 2009 - 08:18:01 PM »
I've been mulling over the idea of installing power mirrors on my Cuda.

Previous owner removed the original mirrors and welded up the holes, but I think I'm going to want some mirrors for safer highway manuevering.

Since I have a clean slate, so to speak, I'm considering installing some mirrors like this:

Those are early to mid 90s GM mirrors. They should be cheap and plentiful... much less expensive than E body reproductions.

The wiring is pretty simple. Just three wires to each mirror. From what I can tell, this is generic across most makes, so cross breeding a switch from another car shouldn't be a problem (see attached).

Just have to find a mirror that mounts at the same angle as the Cuda (about 30 degrees). I think I'm going to make a run to the pick & pull tomorrow to see what I can find.

The only thing that has me a little concerned would be what color to paint them. My car is two toned and the break line is right were the mirror would mount.

Anybody else ever tried something like this?
