Thats fantastic news but if they did run the different brands the way they came off the showroom floor it would be like the hudson hornet in the 50s, or superbird, etc someone would totally dominate and you either ran that car or cried to the officials how unfair there car was.  :crying:

About a year ago the plan was for the Challenger and the Mustang to run in the Nationwide series THIS year.  That didn't happen.  I like this new idea better.  I lost all interest in NASCAR when they went to the universal car of tomorrow.  I used to collect Mopar Nascar diecasts, I have about 300 of them.  I quit when they brought out the COT.  The only COT I have purchased was Ryan Newman's Daytona winner.  If they put cars that resemble Challengers and Mustangs out there I would be interested again.  Here are some pics of the Challenger body they tested last year:

One problem I see is the pseudo-grille ruining the aerodynamics.  It definitely makes the car more recognizable as a Challenger, though.  Dodge doesn't win that many Nascar races anyway, might as well look good.

I am not a big Nascar fan, but after the cars of tomorow were introduced, who cares. Nascar is stock car racing and should reflect what manufacturers have in their showroom. Great move to race the stang and chally, but figures gm is by not doing the camaro(no wonder they wnet bankrupt) :horse:
