73 JH23G Challenger
« on: June 22, 2009 - 02:32:04 PM »
I went and looked at a 1973 Challenger this morning and just wonder what you think it might be worth it was a California car and is B5 blue with blue interior. It has power disc brakes, power steering, Air conditioning, tinted glass, outside chrome mirrors, standard dash, console, & light group. It now has the 318 pulled out and a 74 Rallye Challenger 360 engine in it with less than 1,000 miles on it. Ac pump is missing and the car has solid floors, inner front fenders, and good trunk floor. The hood is off the 74 Rallye Challenger and the trunk lid is in good shape. The passenger side quarter panel has been hit and has filler in it but is not rusty. The drivers side has rust on the lower rear and the lower quarter extension needs replaced. The car comes with the original 318, a extra 727 transmission a extra 8 3/4 3.23 surgrip rear end drum to drum. all interior and exterior trim 2 extra doors all extra glass except windshield. Flat hood, extra bumpers extra ac heater box, complete extra 3 speaker dash pad with frame & gauges. A rear sway bar with mounts, extra chrome outside mirrors, console, extra door panels. rallye instument cluster, and extra seats. Also comes with new seat covers, carpet, headliner, and new door panels. Let me know what you think it is worth and I'll try and post some pictures later.

I was sure someone would give me a idea what I should pay with the economy being what it is. I think I can buy it for around $4,000 with alll the parts included.

If you can get it, plus all listed parts for that, sounds great. I bought a driver 73 for $5500, 2 years ago.

I would say that would be a nice score at 4k.

I just paid $8K for a numbers matching 74 Challenger Rallye JH23L4B 360 4 Speed car with 65K on the clock. Whats weird is the car your considering has the very same rims that are on my challenger, and they are coming back off in favor of rallye wheels.
So if you can get that car at $4K its a deal.

Wanted to let everyone know I did buy the 73 Challenger and a parts car 74 Challenger Rally which I have the title and build sheet for. I ended up paying just under 4K so I'm happy with the deal and the parts.

Congrats on the score. If your parts car has them and you do not intend to use them please give me a shout on the Rallye inserts. I have a buddy who is looking for a set for his 72 Rallye.

Here are a few pictures and I will be starting a post on my restoration soon. The passenger side quarter was hit hard and repaired with lots of filler and they cut holes in the outer wheel house to beat the dents out.

Nice score and well worth $4k. Missed your original WIW post, sorry.

Any pics of the 74? Being as rare as it is, can it be saved as well?
My name is Steve and I'm addicted to Challengers...

The 74 has been taken apart and is very rusty. I don't have any pictures but even the frame rails are rusted out. I would say it is to far gone for me to save as money put into another car that is that far gone would take way more than the $24,000 I have in my 1970 340 4-speed cuda. My wife would say that is a 10 year project and it took 5 years to restore my Cuda in my garage.
