Removing a non-locking glove box latch
«

I took the glove box door off of my dash so I could prep for painting it......
Got out the trusty service manual so I could figure out how to get the latch/knobv off of the door and it describes how to remove a unit that is lockable....
My knob is not lockable.
Cant figure out how to get this off....
Any ideas?

yes , turn the knob so it is vertical reach in through the window in the rear of the door/ lock & using a paper clip slide the retainer back into the cylinder & pull th eknob & dshaft out of the mechanism same as if it was a locking unit

Pic of the lock style, from what I've heard the non-lock works the same
