If it's just a fitting that we need then it's no problem. You can can get any kind of fitting you want. So this little device just installs between the box and the pump?

Yes, in-line between the pump and the box. They said the unit should be mounted to the fender well. Their website has a good description of the unit, how it works and a pretty good picture.
