727 kickdown cable adjustment??
« on: March 03, 2009 - 10:38:20 AM »
Hi Evereyone!
I recieved my car with out any kickdown linkage. 440/727 . I doubt it has a manual valve body. I just ordered a cable kit from the  Mopar catalog ( lokar )Should be here in a few days. I have no idea how it works or how to install it on my car. Has anyone been down this road before?
Thanks Brad

not hard to do , there is a bracket for both the top & bottom end of the cable , the cable & housing will need to be trimmed to length & make sure the kickdown lever is all the way to the end at wide open when you adjust it

Also, a small increment can make a big diff in shift points (at least thats been my expirence) so go little by little not like a 1/4 inch when you adjust it.

Thanks again for all the reply's! You say it comes with the brackets? I have no brackets now? Do I need more parts? Sorry I'm totally green with this? Part still is not in yet.

I thought the Lokar was sold with brackets , so now you either need to make them or buy them I guess

Thanks Terry as they say a picture is worth a thousand words. I notice by your pictures that I don't have the kickdown bracket on the tranny. I get the feeling that will take some "digging" to find.
Thanks Brad

Terry,
I assume I need a spring like it shows in the picture you posted comming off the Kickdown arm you sent me?( Thanks again!! ) Also I need a throttle cable so would you recommend just getting the Locar cable ,and bracket  to match the kickdown cable? ( as the pictures show? ) Also I'm using a Holley carb. Is there a bracket I need for the linkage from holley to Mopar? Currently the motor/tranny is out of the car so it's easier to adjust?
Thanks    ( again!LOL )
