And sue the bond company for not noting any damage

You will find in most cases it will not make $$ to continue and you can drop the suit. You will find some will offer to settle to get out of
the suit. But if you think you can call the cops or file a claim and everyon is going to jump up and down to help, you are mistaken. Those days are long gone. It is every man for himself and sometimes it takes a lawsuit to get their attention. Threaten a lawsuit does nothing. Do you know how many people threaten a suit and never go forward? So the its a numbers game. You need to go forward, at least with the next step or live with it
