Anyone have fit problems with new rear glass???
« on: May 14, 2009 - 01:41:11 PM »
As my saga continures.....My new rear glass doesn't fit. Measured it up with the old and it is 1/4" narrower and 1/8" less in height. Anyoneelse have these troubles?

I dont have your problem, but it seems like it should still fit easy enough.  1/8 inch on each side and 1/16th top to bottom will not be noticed

Are you using the the tabs at the bottom to support the rear glass?  This helps center the rear glass vertically in the window opening.  You probably are, but I thought I would throw it out there.

If the fit is that far off, then I would say the glass itself is wrong.  Have you tried another piece?

The roof skin was never touched....the old glass fits fine and the new is off. It is smaller than the original. Trying to get a resolve. The more I do the more backwards I am getting :pullinghair:

I would suggest using the rubber jack blocks that come with the windshield seal (3M supplies them) to support the glass rather than the metal clippy things. I just put a used back glass in my Challenger and the blocks centered it up just right. The clippies would have been a good 3/16" too low.

I noticed that the side gaps are pretty big once it's in, but I got a good seal anyway. (I DID have to add a little extra seal to the sides, toward the bottom.)

I left the paper on the seal and set the glass in place to check for a consistent seal before getting crazy and sticking it in permanently. Removed glass, added extra stickum, re-applied paper strips, test fit again, etc.

It's an easy job, but then again......not really.   :)

I keep forgetting to bring the package in from the shop as I also promised that number in another thread. I do know that it's 3/8 ribbon seal.
