Lower radiator hose
« on: May 20, 2009 - 08:35:42 PM »
Can someone tell me for sure what end is the water pump side of the lower radiator hose?  Figured I would throw this on tonight but for the life of me cant figure which end is which....both seem too long and before I cut it I want to be sure....Got it at autone....maybe they gave me the wrong hose? I have done tons of hoses over the years and most at least seem to work only one way and are pretty obvious...cant figure this one out.... :1zhelp:

Its a Kelly-Springfield M023.....for a 72 Barracuda , 318, no air......Now, I do have a 26" rad in it but folks here said the hoses would be the same..... :clueless:

the end towards your feet should be the rad end

Ok, thanks,,,,so it looks like I have the right hose then? That was my guess but I guess I am going to have to cut both ends to fit?

just seems like the thing is too long.

They do make them too long at times and I have cut hoses to fit before myself over the years.  They try to make them fit more than one thing.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

I guess too much hose is better than too little....... :roflsmiley:

Thanks guys.....I will feel better cutting this.....I guess it is the right one then?

I was wondering if there is a special hose for the 26" rad cars......the guy asked if I had A/C or not and I said NOT cause I dont ...but I do have the 26" rad installed...but not all A/C cars had 26" did they?

Lower hose is the same on all small block radiators but the upper hose is different....then you will need to ask for the a/c  or heavy duty hose.

OH CRAP!  I thought the upper hose location was the same on the 22 and 26" rads?  I figured the "A/C" question was more for routing around compressor and stuff?

Yep......Definately needed the A/C hose!

Looking at the non-AC hose I cant figure out how it even fits a non-AC car..... :dunno:

Thanks for setting me straight!

Will be installing it and the rest of the hoses if all goes as planned today.......  :working:
