transmission dust cover
« on: May 17, 2009 - 07:56:50 AM »
Ok...confused now.

I was looking for  a dust cover for the sb 727 I have.  I thought this is what I needed.....per Mancini' site

Then, I found a listing for one somewhere showing this one as the correct one ---

Which is the correct one?   :clueless:

The mancini site shows the bottom one as for the 904........??????????

Are the 904 and sb 727 covers the same then or are they screwing that up too?

904 is different than a 727.

Here is what you need. http://www.yearone.com/serverfiles/part.asp?pid=FD30503&c=0&e=0&cat=1&hid=117AD5061&trk=

You should be able to go to the Dealer and order a dust cover for a Dodge Ram with a 5.9 Magnum engine/46RE Transmission and it should fit also.

The one from Mancini Item# MRETCS-2 is probably the correct one, they just have the wrong picture on the web. They are showing 3 different part #'s
so ........... I would say

Item# MRETCS-1 is 727 Big Block
Item# MRETCS-2 is 727 Small Block
Item# MRETCS-3 is 904 Small Block

Year One is cheaper, but if you are ordering a bunch of stuff from Mancini (like filler tube and such) ;) then it would be about the same because of shipping.

Thanks guys...a member from here had a slightly used one with the little inspection window for $27 shipped....  :2thumbs:

On year one's page it says that there is a seal that is NOT needed......whats up with that?

I DO still need the bolts for the dust cover, if anyone knows the size or has them for me.

The seal is a little foam like piece that goes along the oil pan circle area.

The bolts are:
(qty 3)1/4 inch coarse thread and about 1/2 inch long.
(qty 2) 7/16 coarse thread by 1 inch long for the engine braces.
