Rocker Trim (Gill Mouldings) Question

Hey guys, my 70 cuda has the gill mouldings on the rockers and they are held on by some stainless screws, pretty sure thats not how they are supposed to be - how were they held on originally?  thanks, Tyler  I can take pics if that would help

They are held on by screws, straight into the metal

Really?  Because I don't ever remember seeing screws holding them on any other cars  - I wonder if the previous owner just used to large of screws so they are more visible on my car?  Maybe I'll order some repo screws and then I can judge how big they are supposed to be.  if he used too large of screws what can i do to replace them with smaller ones - I'm assuming the holes in the sheet metal will now be too large?  Thanks, Tyler

you may just need a screw the saem size but with a smaller head
