Week-end getaway and my new Toy
« on: May 25, 2009 - 09:36:43 PM »
Some pics of my getaway to the Lake this week end.
Up near Mt. Lassen, the sleeping Volcano.

The boat was given to me for free on Saturday from our neighbor up there. It's in good shape. Engine looks like it's been re built. Getting it checked out this week once we get a battery.

That lake looks gorgeous. With your current events it's good to get some down time isn't it. We went to a local lake for the weekend as well. Run the battery down on the camper but recharge mine. :2thumbs:

Lake Almanor is way up in the Northern east portion of California at 6,000 elevation. My folks have a house up there on the Country Club Peninsula. There's 3 golf courses on it. Practically all the houses surrounding the lake are very upscale modernized model homes. There's no riff raff living in the area and it's all security in and out of the country club. The small town of Chester gives you that small town everybody knows your name type world. Everybody is so friendly up there. Never a day goes by without someone waving a hello, a deer crossing your path, a yellow or black lab swimming in the lake.

Besides my new fishing boat, the folks own a X-15 Mastercraft water ski boat. Pretty sweet ride that really bogies across the lake. It gets lots of stares when we launch it. My mom is up in her years but she still water ski's occasionally. Friends and family come up all summer long and hang out with us. We have a blast all the time up there.

Yup, there's nothing like being on the water, crack of dawn, with mist rising off the surface with fishing breaking the smooth glass in the morning silence.
Awesome pics and catch. Thanks for sharing.
