Hey Alan,  i have see the tongue cap ripped from the trailer before and have been in a driving situation when it has broke loose, :22yikes: very scary stuff, i watched the trailer jump from wheel to wheel in the air through the rear view mirror, luck i steered the Truck with the trailer when it happened and not the other way as it would have toppled over and taken the Truck i was driving with it.

I later found out that the cause was from the way the trailer hitch/cap had been wedlded on to the frame.  It was mind blowing to see it happen and the cause, i thought they were blowing wind up my tail pipe when they explained it to me.

They explained and showed me that you cam not weld across the fron or back of the hitch as it will tear off like it did, when trailer are concerned you can only weld along the sides of the hitch, sound crazy to me too, but it is true and i have seen this happen more than once myself now.  That is why i asked if you had a picture of the broken piece old mate. :2thumbs:
