I bought the exhaust kit from summit, they made it, and the mufflers end up in the rear near the tank. I dont like it that way, so this summer im going to modify the exhaust to get them under the seat.

That's the bad thing about the stock type mufflers. They had heat shields on the floorpan stock but it's probably not the hot setup to be heating up the fuel. That's why I went with the TTI setup. Not everything they did in 1971 was so great.  :grinno:

with a 440 6 pack, are the hooker comp headers and 3" tti pipes a good choice, or is 2.5" more than enough. I agree about the flowmasters. Too much noise. I'm not wanting to wake the neighbors every time I fire it up. Plus, I like actually hearing the tunes while I'm drivin. Turbo mufflers are quieter?
Plus, anyone know how much ceramic coatings cost?
Thanks.

Most cars that have 3" don't need it. 2.5" is fine for most cars. As far as sound, it's subjective. No flowmaster equipped mopar I've done ever sounded like a 5.0...lol. And if you think they soun like glasspacks, you've never really heard a set of glasspacks on a real car. Totally different tones and character. I bent custom exhaust for over a year and you can design in a bunch of tonal qualities if you know what you're doing. Most shops now dont. I grew up with those 5Ls and I can hear them a mile off. but it's all personal taste. They do drone. I don't have tunes in my cars. (no, really.... nothing in my truck or my cars since the early 90s). The Dynomax Turbos will outflow a Flowmaster. Flows are not teh best for least restriction... but I don't like the DYnomax sound myself. They are a bit quieter. Get waht you like for sound. Hav it clamped in, if you dont liek it, change them. No biggie really.
