Sure grip vs. Trac lock
« on: May 30, 2009 - 12:44:16 AM »
The Dana rear seems almost legendary from the way some people talk about them. Dont know much about them, and I'm curious about the trac lock, and how streetable they are. Does it allow enough slip to cruise with, or is it a true locker, which would make it a tire grinder? And what does the 60 mean?
Thanks.

the Dana 60 is a truck diff , only Mopar had the insight to use a diff that strong in a performance car
60 is the series with a 9.75" ring gear
the Power Lock 4 spider gears & Track lock with 2 spider gears are both very streetable , the track lock is somewhat weaker & has earned the "crack Lock " nickname
You would need slicks & a sticky race track to hurt the track lock , otherwise theey are virtually indestructable
