I just got off the phone with one of the shops on the Magnaflow site...about 25 minutes from my house...never been there...referred to them by magnaflow's site.....(which klisted three others, bu tall were disconnected or incorrect listings)   :sly:

I am taking the Durango in to them tomorrow to have the muffler looked at...its under warranty thru magnaflow....so, while I am down there he said he can price me out a system for the fish.....

He has a buddy in the town I live in who has a flat bed service, so at least that works out....he does stainless, though standard crush bending. He of course says I won't need the mandrel bent.....any shop that cant do it will say that I suppose....LOL...he also said that stainless will turn orange....unless you get the "really good/expensive stuff which is hard to bend"......

Hmm...first time I ever heard that before. Does stainless turn orange?

Well, went down to the shop....

They want $100 to cut my old Magnaflow out (being replaced under warranty and reinstall a new one, using stainless steel pipe where needed.....$75 for regular.

I paid $75 5 years ago to have it installed (and the guy hacked it in)...so I guess thats a reasonable cost.

Fish-wise, they say it will be about $600 to do the exhaust in stainless steel (basic stainless steel).  Tips may or may not be included --- TBD.

The shop seemed ok and had a good vibe to me...ran into a neighbor down there...turns out he has been going there for years and says they are good folks......

Is the stainless steel they will use at this shop the same stuff they use in the magnaflow kits? Or is the kit stuff better?  The guy at the shop explained that the basic grade of SS will get orange....which is what my Durango pipes did (stock ss).    I can deal with that.  But if the kit pipes are better SS that stay shiny, I think that could sway me a bit....

What say y'all?

I have the same motor, went threw the same thing less then 3 weeks ago. I put on a TTI kit. Honestly I weighed all my options and went with stock manifolds and the TTI duel exhaust kit with the cross over pipe. It was the best conversion I have done to the car yet. The exhaust has a great tone at Idle and has a wonderful growl on the road. I would not go with the headers just because they are so expencive and the price to improvment was just not worth it for me. NOTE - Don't get your tips from them. You can get cheaper tips almost anywhere.TTI really bends you over for them!
GO TTI and you will be really happy with it!!!!
Easy to install, Great power improvement, and sound *****EN on a 318 ! ! !
