Rear Visibility

I haven't put many miles on the SRT-08, but the rear visibility is scary    You can't see squat when backing up at all.  It's like backing with your eyes shut.  Twice I've backed into an object and fortunately just hit a tire and had no damage to the car    I need more miles to get use to driving this giant car, but it needs a rearview camera.   Anybody else having problems with this?

BTW, I own a F-250 SuperDuty 4x4 pickup with a camper shell and have no trouble backing that so I don't think it's me.

Wish I had your problem. I would be happy. A new srt8 would look good with my barracuda in the same garage.

Honestly tho, I would think that as time goes by and you get used to it more, it will be easier each time

I am very lucky to have the car so I don't mean to be whiney.  Just curious if any other owners were uncomfortable with backing.

   I was somewhat trained before I bought my new Chally.

I bought the new Mustang in late 2004. I put louvers on the rear window, which wasn't a problem. The problem was I put them on the side rear windows. No visibility at all from there on out.    My only problem was backing out of a parking space that was at an angle instead of straight in. I hope you can picture what I'm saying. Anyway, when backing up, I would have to be halfway out before I could see a car coming or not. It's almost as bad with the new Chally, but not quite, so I feel like I upgraded.

Backing up isnt nearly as big an issue as are lane changes on the highway.
the car has a mammouth blind spot that swallows an entire vehicle whole, and now a few times have nearly made lane changes and pulled into somebody.

I noticed the blind spot too, but feel I can better deal with that if I'm paying attention (famous last words).  Guess it's something we have to live with on these cars...

You get used to it. Adjust the side mirrors and you are good to go.

Yep, happened to me on my first long roadtrip this past weekend. No damage, not really even close but still happened. The mirrors seem awfully small compared to my dd truck. It is definately hard to see out of while backing, of course I park WAY out of the way in parking lots so not usually a problem.

If the mirrors are large enough, and you don't mind the slight dorkification, get a pair of small 1-2" bullseye mirrors (convex) and stick them to the outer edge of the side mirrors' glass.  It can do a pretty good job of covering the blind spot.

Really no problem here , other than thinking its longer than what it is but then again been Driving MRAP's and Humvee's for the last year.
