« on: May 31, 2009 - 09:25:45 PM »
:aarg: :canada:. this is my first post guy...Hi from Ontario....My 70 340 4 spd..is pretty new to me..I negotiated a deal on a 2009 r/t challenger and I took this one on trade//question is..I am good with the hurst but the clutch seems to engage all or nothing..bangs hard unless I really let it out slow..it makes for a bit of work unless I really concentrate/ engine is  a 1970 340 spd with a 3.23  suregrip /edelbrock highrise/manifolds/750 cfm edlebrock/pretty decent cam too /about 300hp..anybody tell me if there is something I can adjust(it is pretty hard to push down on too..supposed to be a performance clutch)...thank you and kind regards...Matt

it would depend on the style of clutch used & the material used on the disc , some of the performance discs do not slip they just grab , it doesn`t sound like you have a diaphragm clutch if it is hard to depress the pedal ewhich tend to be very grabby near the top of the pedal travel , , if you have a metallic / feramic or ceramic disc they are not designed to slip , they just grab & go , you will probably  have to replace the disc to get the feel you want
Oil on the clutch disc can also make it grab

Do you have the big spring on top of the clutch pedal to help push and release the pressure plate?

Did not know about the big spring..is there one??...I will have to take a look..It is a bit hard to push in...that might be the ticket...thankyou for you response..sometimes the simplest things get overlooked..and this may be that..
