1970 340 What's it worth?
« on: June 11, 2009 - 07:37:49 AM »
My buddy has a '70 340 longblock that came out of a Dart about 20 years ago. I believe it is complete except the exhaust manifolds. The engine is disassembled. I haven't seen it yet. I am interested in buying it for a future project. Assuming it needs to be rebuilt what's it worth?

I bought the exact same engine 2 years ago for $800 (it wasn't disassembled)

Depends on a few things I would say. Primarily, if its been bored already. A standard bore is worth a ton more than one that's already .030 over. If its more than .030 over, I'd pass on it, even going to .060 over you should probably do a sonic check etc...

I paid $280 for my 68 340 shortblock last year, it was .030 over though.
